Cookies

This website uses cookies for the purpose of monitoring website usage. A cookie is a piece of code that creates a file on your computer to track the pages that you view on our website. The cookies do not collect personal information. You can disable them or clear them out of your web browser without affecting your ability to use the website.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect and analyse details about the use of our website.

The information Google Analytics collects includes:

  • your IP address
  • the search terms you used
  • the pages you accessed on the website and the links you clicked on
  • the date and time you visited the website
  • the referring website (if any) through which you clicked through to this website
  • your operating system (eg, Windows XP, Mac OSX)
  • the type of web browser you use (eg, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox)

Use of statistical information

The statistical information referred to above will be viewable by website administrators and certain other Department staff. It may also be shared with other Government agencies.

Mapbox

We use Mapbox for our searchable map function. Mapbox does not at any point save your address to a database, file, or in a cookie.

The information Mapbox collects through its API (Application Programming Interface) and an SDK (Software Development Kit) includes:

  • IP address
  • device and browser information
  • operating system
  • the content of the request
  • the date and time of the request
  • limited usage data
  • for our mobile SDKs, limited location data.
  • They delete IP addresses after 30 days.

Your personal information

Where you voluntarily provide personal information (eg, through email requests), we will only use your personal information for the purposes for which you gave it to us.

We will manage your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020, Health Information Privacy Code 2020 and other relevant legislation. The Privacy Act 2020 regulates us through the Information Privacy Principles as to how we collect, use, hold, disclose, access, correct, manage and dispose of your personal information. Sharing your information with third parties

We will only disclose information to third parties where this is directly related to the purposes for which it was collected. Your information may be shared with, and held by, third-party contractors so that those contractors can provide you with the services you have requested.

We will not disclose your personal information to other government agencies or other organisations without your consent, unless required or allowed by law. For example, where we believe the disclosure is necessary to prevent or lessen a serious threat to someone’s safety.

Security of information

Protecting your personal information and data is important to us. We take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we hold is protected against loss, unauthorised access and disclosure or other misuse.

Accessing or correcting your information

You have the right to access any information that we hold about you, and to correct it if it’s wrong.

To access any personal information held by us, or if you have any concerns about personal information that we hold and wish to request its correction, please contact us.

When making a request to access or change your information, please include:

  • your name
  • contact address (email or postal)
  • contact phone number
  • details of the information you want or want to correct - this needs to be as clear and specific as you can make it. We may ask you for more details.

Please note that before we can provide you with your information or make any changes we need to be satisfied about your identity. To do so, we may need to ask you further questions or to view identification.

Requesting information on behalf of someone else

If you are requesting information on behalf of someone else, you will need to provide their authorisation or other documentation to support that you have the right to do so.

Correcting your information

We will work with you to make any necessary corrections.

Where we are unable to change the information or do not agree that it needs to be changed, you can provide us with a statement of correction. This is a statement outlining what information you believe is wrong and explaining what it should be. We will attach this to the relevant document so that it is read alongside the disputed information.
